Native Forestry Plantations:  2002

~3 ha/7.5 acres. Planted on a Keyline layout at 3m x 4m spacings (~840 stems/ha).

Ground preparation involved deep ripping down to~550-600 mm, and mounding aligned on contour.

Silvicultural management of these plantations has included form and lift pruning. Guarding the Acacia melanoxylon and Allocasuarina verticillata has also been necessary.

Species planted include the following:

Eucalyptus saligna

E. botryoides

E. camuldulensis

E. polyanthemos

Allocasuarina verticillata

Acacia dealbata

A. mearnsii

A. melanoxylon

A few specimens of Quercus petraea were also planted in this system, in some of the wetter areas above drainage lines.
